HI SAM,
I'M REALLY SAD TO REPORT WE HAVE RECENTLY LOST TWO CL82 PLANK OWNERS AND SUPER INTELLIGENT SHIPMATES.
MY OTHER 46 YEAR FRIEND CL82 PLANK OWNER AND PRE COMMISSIONING CREW MEMBER DONALD "DJ" LYONS RM1/C OF OCOLA, FL WENT ON CRUISE ETERNAL MAY 24 (THIS MONTH) OF BONE CANCER. DJ AND I BOTH KNEW HE WAS PREPARED FOR HIS DEATH SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. DJ HAD ENOUGH POINTS TO LEAVE CL82 SHORTLY AFTER SHAKEDOWN AND BEFORE WE SAILED TO THE MED IN '45. HIS EXPERTISE WAS SOLVING RADIO SHACK EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS. HE ATTENDED OUR LAS VEGAS REUNION HE LEAVES HIS WIFE ZELL, ONE SON AND TWO GRANDCHILDREN.

The Passing of a Warrior
Today one of our brothers
has gone on to the far side of the wall
There he walks again among his friends
his honored kin and comrades Tonight there is a hole in my heart
I ache for the loss of my brother
though I rejoice in his rejoining

and a dignified friend
has found his peace at last
